In today's Bible reading He tells us to focus on inside, matters of the heart, more than outsiders, surface issues of pride and prestige. Inside issues relate to loving God and loving others well. In loving others well we focus on short-term issues of mercy, and long term issues of justice. Justice seeks to get at root causes, and it tries to solve needs for the long haul. If we focus on these deeper issues of the heart, then surface issues will take care of themselves.
