Bible Text: Luke 21:37-22:16 | Pastor Keith Bergstrom
Series: Luke: A Doctor's Insight
Jesus died on the Jewish Passover so people would better understand the meaning of His death. The Passover commemorated the great deliverance of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, and it was also the birth of a nation. When the 10th plague struck Egypt, which was the death of the first-born, the Israelites were protected by the blood of a perfect lamb which was painted over the doorway to their homes.
The cross of Jesus marks an even greater act of deliverance from slavery to sin. Jesus’ blood brings forgiveness from our sins and gives us life. We became new people.
