Bible Text: Hebrews 7:18-28 |

Just as it is hard for us to fully grasp God’s judgment on sin, it is hard for us to grasp how shockingly gracious God is toward His sinful children (Romans 5:20). The very holiness of God keeps Him from coming in wrath against His children (Hosea 11:9). Instead, Jesus intercedes in prayer for believers (Romans 8:33-34). In our ongoing sin, He always lives to intercede for us (Hebrews 7:25). Jesus also advocates for us and comes to our defense when we sin (I John 2:1). God is not morally indifferent toward sin, but when we sin Jesus intercedes and advocates for us. He averts the Father’s gaze to His finished work on the cross. We have ongoing good standing with the Father because of the intercession and advocacy of Christ.
