If you studied the emotions in the life of Christ, the emotion most frequently attributed to Him is compassion. Another emotion Christ felt was anger. It’s appropriate for a perfectly moral person, Like Jesus, to be angry at sin and injustice. Another description of Christ’s heart is friend. Jesus was a friend to the most despicable kinds of sinners in that culture. Sinners felt comfortable, welcomed and at ease with Jesus.
Furthermore, it’s not just Jesus who’s compassionate, but the Holy Spirit is a comforter (John 14:16), and God the Father is the father of compassion, and the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). The triune God is a God of endless mercy. I hope these are not just doctrinal truths for you. I hope you find this God attractive and beautiful.
