As transcended and beyond us as God is, He comes near to us in Jesus. In Jesus being baptized by His cousin John, Jesus is identifying with sinful humanity. he is coming along side the people He came to save. Jesus isn't just a man, He's the beloved Son of God - a Son who is exactly like His Father, and He has a unique Father-Son relationship with God. Because of this closeness Jesus can bridge the relational gap between us and God.
