Series: The Character of Thanksgiving
Our founding fathers openly recognized that Almighty God is the beneficent Author, the source, of all the good that was, that is, or that will be. That’s why we’re commanded and invited to give God thanks, praise, blessing, glory, joy and exaltation. Thanksgiving is a huge part of the Bible’s message to us! When we move toward God in thanks that reminds us 1) we are not alone in our circumstances. We have a relationship with Almighty God. 2) Looking at life through God’s eyes helps us to be God-centered more than problem-centered. You interpret your situation in life through God’s faithfulness. 3) Being thankful helps you defeat Satan’s temptation to doubt God’s goodness. And 4), by depending on God, you are less demanding of others. What you expect or fear from others diminishes.
