Bible Text: Luke 10:13-24 | Pastor Keith Bergstrom
Series: Luke: A Doctor's Insight
Jesus pronounced troubling, sad “woes” of judgement to towns around Him, including Capernaum, His home base of ministry. They know enough about Him to respond in faith. By application, people around us also know enough about Jesus to inspire faith. When the 72 additional disciples were sent out they had fair warning that they would face rejection. Yet, when they returned they were excited that even the demons submitted to them in Jesus’ name. Jesus told them to not rejoice in a short-lived sensational experience, but rejoice in a permanent home with Christ. The way to that permanent home is through Jesus only (John 14:7). Ask people, if God were to ask you “Why should I let you into my heaven?” what would you say? If they’re trusting in their own goodness, help them see the priority of Jesus.
