Bible Text: Ruth 4:1-10 | Pastor Keith Bergstrom
Series: What Does God Say?
The book of Ruth is about Ruth’s sacrificial love for Naomi, which is an example of God’s love for us, Ruth 1:16-17. We learn of God’s heart for the poor and the foreigner, Leviticus 19:9-10. We see how God used an average Israelite family to become the ancestors of King David and Jesus. God often uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. When Boaz married Ruth, he didn’t let differences of race, culture and money to be barriers to relationship. The book of Ruth teaches us about the “Kinsman Redeemer,” when someone buys back something to help a family member in need. Christ is our Kinsman Redeemer, buying us back from a sinful life with His precious blood, 1 Peter 1:18-19.
