For the Christian it's important to have a long view of life, an eternal prospective on our circumstances. Daniel was given a vision, by God, of the distant future. That future would include suffering and death for thousands of Jews persecuted by the Greek King Antiochus Epiphanes. The vision only held out the hope that the suffering had a limit. The Bible teaches a "Theology of Suffering" along with a "Theology of Glory." No one is exempt from suffering, including God. Yet God can bring good out of suffering. Jesus endured the cross and the grave to make life and hope possible.
