Bible Text: 2 Samuel 24:9-14 |

In God’s sovereignty, He allowed Satan to tempt King David to take a census of his fighting men. When David got what he wanted, and he knew how strong his army was, he regretted taking the census. Sin is often like that. It over promises and under delivers. As a consequence, a plague, from an angel, came upon the nation of Israel and 70,000 people died.

The plague where the death angel stopped was the threshing floor of Aruna. This was also the place where Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice and where Solomon built his temple. This place was perhaps 800 yards from where Christ died on the cross. The price tag for sin is death, Romans 6:23, but God gives us mercy,

2 Samuel 24:19. He also provides a way out from temptation, 1 Corinthians 10:13.
