Bible Text: 1 Samuel 8:1-9, 19-22 |

Learning by imitation occurs throughout our life, from simple nonverbal communication to complex adult tasks. We learn by imitation. God’s plan was that the Israelites, God’s chosen people, should be an example for everyone to follow, Genesis 22:18. But sadly, the Israelites were not a good example, it was just the opposite. They copied the nations around them. First Samuel Chapter 8 was a turning point in Israel’s history, when they demanded a king, 1 Samuel 8:19-20. The take-away is what not to do. Christians are to copy the good, acceptable and perfect ways of God, Romans 12:2. The most helpful thing we can do to renew our mind is to be in and follow God’s Word, Psalm 119:105. May society copy Christians, and not the other way around
