As Important and godly as Elijah was, his example is not out of reach for us (James 5:17-18). We can have the same qualifications for service that Elijah had (I Kings 17:1). Elijah stood before God and knew His heart, and we can too (Hebrews 4:15-16, John 15:15). Spend time consciously in the presence of God, and when He gives you an assignment, obey. Obeying God doesn’t mean life will be easier, it may become more difficult. Yet, God teaches us to trust and rely on Him. Even in an obscure setting God can draw us closer to His heart.
