Bible Text: Luke 23:1-25 |

Series:

Several answers could be given to the question, “Who put Jesus on the cross?” Governor Pilate had an official role in crucifying Jesus. The Jewish religious leaders pressured Pilate and they stirred up the Jerusalem crowd. But none of them would have the power over Jesus if God the Father hadn’t willed it (John 12:19). God planned for Jesus to be crucified in order to forgive our sins. The core reason Jesus went to the cross was to pay for our sins. Our sins, more than the nails, held Jesus to the cross. The ultimate motivation was God’s love (1 John 4:8-11). God did whatever it took to rescue His beloved!
