Bible Text: Philippians 2:3-4 | Pastor David McMahon
When we marry, something brand new is formed - two lives are blended. During a wedding the symbol of the unity candle is such a clear symbol of that joining. One in name, in aim & in the holy purpose. Consider another's need higher than self. In the case of bringing a new pastor here, I (Dave McMahon) pray that you will
- Give the pastor the privilege to dream. He needs to be able to hear and respond to the Spirit's leading, “Attempt something so great for God, it’s doomed to failure unless God be in it,” Tom Haggai said.
- Give him power to decide, day to day needs and let him lead, give him faith and trust.
- Give him the pulpit to declare the word of God to you. The pulpit will lead the world, “The world’s a ship on its voyage out, and not a voyage complete; and the pulpit is its prow.” - Herman Melville
- Give him periods of time to detach - let him rest (days off) the owner's manual (Bible) says to take a Sabbath. Pastor Dave recommends giving the pastor a sabbatical every 7 years. Pastoring a church is a people intensive job.
- Provide supportive prayers due to him and his family.
