Bible Text: 1 Kings 19:9b-14 |

Series:

Tired, discouraged, and fearful Elijah knew he needed a fresh encounter with God. He took matters into his own hands and walked to the mountain of God. God asked Elijah, "What are you doing here?" 1 Kings 19:19a. Elijah avoids the question and answers in self pity. God didn't argue or get sidetracked. God gave Elijah a fresh perspective, not in the spectacular, but in a quiet visit. After God's probing question, He told Elijah to "go back the way you came," 1 Kings 19:15a. may we not run from and avoid God. may we not listen to contrary and competing voices. If we've been sidetracked in our faith, may we listen to God and go back the way we came, and listen to God's gentle whisper for guidance.
