Since 2012, the Evangelical Covenant Church and World Vision have partnered to help and support children in the poorest and neediest country in the world, Congo. Congo, in Central Africa, was ranked 187 (the lowest) out of 187 countries on the United Nations’ Index of Human Development. In a country of over 64 million, 3 out of 4 people have no access to clean water. Congo rates in the bottom 8 countries for acute malnutrition. 82,000 children under the age of 5 die every year due to malaria. And yet, there is hope. An unprecedented partnership was formed to meet this unprecedented need. The Covenant has been involved in remote areas of the Congo since 1937. This ministry has grown to more than 1,600 churches, 5 hospitals, 90 medical clinics, a school system that serves 60,000 students and micro-enterprise projects. World Vision has been in other areas of the Congo for 40 years. They have 60 years of experience of building sustainable long-term solutions for children. Together they are bringing hope to children in Congo. When children are sponsored, you not only make a difference for one child you help long-term development for the entire community. Through this model, every child supported benefits 8-10 children!
